Sawyer Howitt: Climbing Racquetballs Ladder

Racquetball is not an American sport that moves the needle much, other than as a fun recreational sport. But young Sawyer Howitt could be one who begins to change America’s outlook on the sport. First, as a teenager attending Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon, Howitt began to develop his game and what a game it is turning out to be. He leapt onto the scene during 2015’s Oregon High School Racquetball State Championships and while not taking home a trophy, his skill brought him much deserved attention. Since those championships, his game has improved steadily, now to the point to garner notice on the national scene.

Sawyer Howitt represents the Racquet Club of Portland, an exquisite private and family oriented club located in the West Hills in Portland, Oregon. Sawyer Howitt’s success will not only benefit himself on the national stage, but his ties to the Racquet Club of Portland will also allow the Club some notoriety.

Sawyer Howitt, the son of Meriwether Group founder David Howitt, continues his climb by consistently matching up with fellow high school alums to practice his craft. This has allowed Howitt to firmly lock his sights onto the national stage.

While Racquetball has yet to find its way into the Olympics, the United States does have a National Team that will featured in the 2017 Pan American Championships taking place in Costa Rica. Do not be surprised if Sawyer Howitt will eventually be one of the top Americans to represent the US at those Pan Am games in the very near future.
